HOW WAS GANYMEDE AND OTHER ROCK BODIES MADE?????

OK, so you may be wondering what is this weird color combination thing. Well, this is the first step of how Ganymede and all the other rock planets were made, and how they got so big. Well it was not as big as it was before, first it was really small and it got big, but what, and how? So, first there was a huge cloud of dust and gas called a nebuls, but over time as the big clouds cool, the atoms start to slow down and clump together. But from there it just gets bigger, now, big clumps called planetesimals start to bump into each other and get even bigger. Finally there will be a big clump, that clump will have lots of gravity and will pull in more little debris and clear out everything, that's called protoplanet. This is where Jupiter comes in, it, being hundreds of times bigger than Ganymede, pickes it up in it's orbit and Ganymede becomes it's moon. For the earth which formed simaler, it continues to pick up objects and collides with things. It would get bigger and takes control of our moon and all of the other junk in space around it.
So you see the formations of planets start with just a big cloud of stuff and ends up sticking together and making huge bodies including the one we call home =]

DISCOVERY OF GANYMEDE

so, who first saw the Ganymede? wll, the man who first observed four of Jupiter's moons is Galileo Galilie. He discovered Io, Europa, Callisto, and Ganymede. He did it all with a home made telescope! After his moon observations were provened, he named them and now the four moons are the Galilean satellites. :P

PLUTO'S NOT A PLANET! T-T

I remember when i found out that Pluto is not a planet anymore. It was pretty messed up because i thought Pluto was cool but whatever. Any way, in case there are people who don't trust scientists and say Pluto really is a planet,here's why it is not:
In order for Pluto to be a planet, it has to fist be spherical(did I spell that right?) or rounded shape, OK, Pluto is round. A planet has to orbit the sun, that's good too. Now this is where they get all technical on you: In order for Pluto to be a planet, it has to control or dominate everything else around it.... FAIL! Pluto along with other mini planets don't control each other so... it is not a planet...
Earth's a planet because it is round, it orbits sun, and controls the moon. But note Pluto. Actually if you've been reading the science section, they found a couple of dwarf planets or mini's like Pluto but one is bigger but still doesn't qualify as a planet.









Ganymede, which is bigger than Pluto and Mercury can not be called a planet also. :(
It is because it also can not meet the requirements for a planet, it is defenitly big enough but it does not orbit the sun or controls everything near it. Why? It is because of Jupiter. Ganymede orbits Jupiter and it is controlled by Jupiter. Take Jupiter out and Ganymede could be a planet but, too bad. It's a moon.

SIZE of GANYMEDE :P

Ganymede is 5262 km or 3270 miles in diameter, it is bigger than Mercury and Pluto so that's some big moon. Anyways Ganymede is much bigger than our moon and is the LARGEST MOON IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM, Accually, it would be clasified as a planet if it did not orbit Jupiter... :/ Check this picture out of the size of Ganymede compared to other moons and planets And yes, Ganymede is the biggest: (click on it to mae it bigger)

although Ganymede is a huge body and is bigger than Pluto and Mercury, it is just a small speck next to the gigantic mega gas planet, Jupiter, or as i call it, BIG MOMMA.

And do I have to mention that how big the sun is to Jupiter and how our solar system is a dot in the Galaxy and on and on. :P
